WOO Dunnit? ... RE-Dunnit!

YO FINKS on this day, April 25th, back in the year 2013, during the early days of the Surfphony of Derstruction 2000, I was listening to the radio and I spun a little too far to the left and went BEYOND THE LEFT OF THE DIAL! I heard something that I never heard before...
It was friggin' weird! I mean the dude looks like me... and he sounds like me... but geeze louise, what's up with the Private Eye schtick? HEH beats me but I dig it! I also dug the music I heard too. Lots of really cool surf that sounds like it could be out of an ol' film-noir detective film or even some James Bond secret agent man flicks. I liked what I heard when I went BEYOND THE LEFT OF THE DIAL so I recorded it and gave you finks a chance to listen to something real kool. But back then, I didn't have the equipment and experience I have now so the recording left a bit to be desired... So I figured, ya know what, I know what I'm doing nowadays, why not go and fix up that ol' recording to celebrate WOO Dunnit's one-year anniversary? So that's what I did and here it is for you now!

All nice and polished up for you finks! Aren't I such a nice guy? HEH! Here's the playlist that I pieced together. I hope you dig a lil bit of spy surf!

Aqua Velvets - Day In The Life of a Private Eye
Poison Ivy - Peter Gunn Theme
Link Wray - Switchblade
The Reverberators - Paint it Bond
The Surfdusters - Chill Out
The Huntington Cads - Theme From The Maneater
The Reverb Syndicate - M's Lament
Los Straitjackets - Espionage
Mercury 4 - Endless Beach
The Neptunas - Dick Tracy
Nelson Riddle - Batman Blues

Some new stuff has been coming to light. If you've been tuned in to the Big Surf, some real wacky stuff has been going on... First, it was the end of the world...

Then I found myself stuck in the Nuclear Apocalypse...

But I can't be stopped and so I travelled through the atomic wasteland in search of a time machine hidden in an old arcade...

That arcade being Bumper City. Before the end of the world, it was a real bustlin' arcade packed to the gills with pinball!

I found the time machine but things didn't quite go the way I wanted to and I ended up getting lost in time and space. I found out that there is this place, the uh... "The Axis of Time". According to the research I've been doing since I have arrived here, "The Axis of Time" exists between time and space, essentially the center of the universe and there is this big ol' computer, I think it's operating system DB683, that monitors all sorts of alternate realities that contain their own history and characteristics and, of course, their own Big Derboski!

What a guy! "Hollywood" Derk Brigante's ego has gotten a little big what with all the hot air he's blowing. Can't complain about the tunes he plays, though it's take-it-or-leave-it for me when it comes to the black'n'white.

Mr. Hollywood is the man with the most to boast, it seems! Enough about him though. this overgrown NES out here in the Axis of Time, DB683, has informed me that it monitors all the realities and works to prevent any time paradoxes from coming about and screwing everything up. That's apparently where I come into play. I was supposed to remain in the nuclear wasteland and have some bad stuff happen to me (I swear this computer despises me) but I decided to challenge fate and travel back in time to a time before the end of the world. Preferably a coupla hours before I showed up at Count Von Derkula's party so I could go to the beer store! I really should have brought my own beer instead relying on the generosity of the ghouls in attendance...

Because whatever I drank led to a pretty nasty paranormal hangover!

But from what D683 told me, if I had successfully gone back in time, gone to the beer store and turned down Satan's brew, I could have been in big trouble. Instead of the end of the world in my reality, I could have caused multiple realities to collapse within mine due to time paradoxes, me existing on multiple planes within the same universe, what-have-you. I don't know man, all this DATA that DB683 spews out makes my head spin. I just wanna hang ten! I'm gonna keep doing that no matter where I am, when I am, or how I am! WOOOOO! I'm Derk Brigante, not quite live but still alive here in the AXIS OF TIME and I will be bringing the surf to YOU every full moon when the tide is high baby! Keep tuned in for the next full moon on May 14th!

SURFPHONY OF DERSTRUCTION B000... BACK FROM THE DEAD

GOOD EVENING!

October is here and that means Halloween is coming back to haunt us again! In the spirit of the haunting holiday, Derk Brigante has given me the keys to the Surfphony of Derstruction 2000 and asked that I do what he does each month... bring to you a top-notch episode of the Big Surf on the full moon! Look up and listen up! I see a full moon in the sky and I hear the wolfman howling like there's no tomorrow! I think that means it's time to rise from the grave...

THE SURFPHONY OF DERSTRUCTION BOO-THOUSAND IS ALIVE ONCE AGAIN! OH HA HA HA HA!!!

It is so good to be back! Spending all this time in my coffin has made me a little stiff! Ah ah ah! Of course, nothing will stop me from throwing a big ol' monster mash. It's my favorite time of the year and I invite you to join me on the Surfphony of Derstruction BOO-THOUSAND. It doesn't matter if you are dead or alive, all manners of monsters are welcome to join!

YEP every full moon when the tide is high, the Surfphony of Derstruction comes ashore from surfin' the seven seas to bring ya some choice trax for yer listening pleasure! It's always a fresh catch of instrumental music here on the Big Surf and The Big Derboski is never one to disappoint. We've been going all sorts of crazy with the past few episodes, going BEYOND THE LEFT OF THE DIAL and catching an old radio drama, WOO DUNNIT? Following that, we prepared for war with the GREAT LAKES SURF BATTLE SPECIAL checking out all the bands that would be playing at The Great Lakes Surf Battle and some others that have played at battles past! AND FINALLY, last month, we did a little bit of globetrotting to bring Surf from around the Earth in THE WORLD WARRIOR! I've had enough of all the themes and what-have-you so I threw together a real good episode with some of my most choice trax. No theme or idea in particular, just some SURF... NUFF SAID!

DIG IT here's a playlist

Al Casey - Surfin' Blues PT II
Shean & Jenkins - Goofy Footer Ho-Dad

Space Cossacks - The Defector

Martin Schiller - The Innocuous Pastiche meets Professor Adventure (Click the link to reach Martin's Soundcloud page!)

ALRIGHT I got something for ya... Here's a scene from the ol' skool batman show where Batman shakes his cake and gets down with a foxy lady! He also has too much to drink.

DERK TRACY IN... WOO DUNNIT?

WHAT'S THE HAPS, HO-DADS!

So, listen up! I was listening to my little alarm clock radio, trying to find some far out stations here in Hell City. Things weren't looking too good; I was hitting a lot of Top-40 and crap like that so I dared to... VENTURE BEYOND THE LEFT OF THE DIAL!

Now, rumor has it, that to go far beyond the left of the dial, all the way past 88.1 FM is to stumble upon the static of a dimension not unlike our own. But to play beyond the eighty-eight is a dangerous game... The static can scramble your static, the commercials can turn you crazy... The Big Derboski ain't one for tall tales so I turned that dial till I could turn no more and went... BEYOND THE LEFT OF THE DIAL!

I stared into the abyss and the abyss stared back... and you know who I saw?

DERK TRACY, NUMBER 1 PRIVATE EYE!

I heard a strange recording come on when I was surfin' the static so I managed to snag it with a few leftover mystic tapes I bought from an old electrician that was also a practicing voodoo doctor. I was able to get the recording nice and clean though I can't say the same about my soul... but damn this sounds good! DIG IT!

Dave Konstantino of Revolution Rock and Chris Crossroads of Deliverance dropped by to hang ten with the 60-Minute Maniac, THE BIG DERBOSKI, Derk Brigante, to celebrate! WHAT FOR? There's a reason I call myself the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be, because I AM. 2011 CJAM'S VOLUNTEER OF THE DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG YEAR! WOOOOOOOOO! So, I figured, as my first episode as CHAMPION, I would play my favorite tracks from the shows gone by, as well as a couple chosen out by BIG DAVE

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW!!! HEY COWFINKS!! Sheriff Derk Brigante here again for The Surfphony of Derstruction! This episode, we heard THE CALL OF THE WEST and found ourselves out in the Wild West lookin' for somewhere to SURF! The tide decided to meet us halfway and so we had plenty of cacti and seaweed to go around! The specialty of this week's Surfphony of Derstruction was all sorts of Western sounding Surf! Yeehaw! Something unusual about this show was that much of the artists were CANADIAN! HUH?! Kind of unusual seeing as many of the artists are from the Great White North rather than the Wild West! I guess Canadians never forgot the Alamo either!

Canadian artists are in BOLD

Good thing is that nothing was in our way this week and The Surfphony was at full throttle ALL NIGHT! woooooooo! Great show this week, LOTS of new stuff got some play! I've felt like I've been playing a lot of the same bands lately (not to say the show is going downhill OH NO) so I made an effort to try and play some bands that have had little to no play on The Surfphony!! MArch 1st

Hello there finks! This week's Surfphony of Derstruction fell again on the first of the month! KOOL! Just the same ol' surfin' time we had this week with a few special songs courtesy of the Cruis'n' USA soundtrack. Originally released in 1994, Cruis'n' USA was all about racing through different U.S. locales with some really sweet music! A couple of Surf tracks, some bluegrass boogie and even a wacky techno track makes Cruis'n' USA one of my favorite game soundtracks. I've posted a couple of videos of the soundtrack below. DIG IT
