SURFPHONY OF DERSTRUCTION 2000 VINYL PREVIEW

WOOOOOOOOOO!

Derk Brigante here to let you finks in on a little secret... As you know, The Surfphony of Derstruction 2000 brings you some of the most choice trax in Surf music and also some hella rare stuff unheard of elsewhere in the world of Surf podcasts! The Big Derboski likes doin' his fair share of theme shows too, ranging from simple themes throughout the episode, like SWINGIN' DRUUUUMS with all sorts of drum-centric surf trax, to going full-on BEYOND THE LEFT OF THE DIAL!!! with Derk Tracy in... WOO DUNNIT?

Coming August 21 on the next full moon, I have a really special episode for ya... I got together with my buddies Matt Groopie of the King Beez and Alex Pulec of The Nursery and we pooled our resources together to make a REAL KOOL episode of the Surfphony of Derstruction 2000. We're gonna wax nostalgic and throw down some real ol skool and rare SURF RECORDS!!!

YEAH THAT'S RIGHT!! A FULL VINYL RECORD EPISODE OF THE SURFPHONY OF DERSTRUCTION 2000!!! DANG

We played everything from Dick Dale to The Ventures! OK, that doesn't sound any special at all... But it was The Ventures covering Johnny Cash! I KID I KID! We played some real obscure stuff and a lot of lesser known songs by the likes of Link Wray , Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys... YEAH, Matt pulled a fast one and played some Beach Boys on the BIG SURF but I let it slide this time. I'm talking a lot about what we played and so instead of leaving ya hangin', let me give ya a little sample of what is to come.

Alex, Matt and I each threw down a track of our choice for this preview. My track features HOT DAMN with their cover of Take It Off! I found this little-known gem of a 45 at Sonic Boom in Kensington Market for a dollar. I played the A-Side, BEAVER SHOT! on the full episode so make sure to tune in to hear some HOT DAMN! Matt played Duane Eddy, a heavy hitter in the instrumental scene and his track FUZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Alex ended our set off with some Jack Nietzsche and the perfect song for those starry nights that will be fading soon come September, SONG FOR A SUMMER NIGHT! WOOOOOO

BIG THANKS goes out to my buddy Tyler Ball for assisting us in recording and providing the turntable equipment necessary to record this episode! THANKS T-BALL!!!

FULL MOON AUGUST 21 MARK IT DOWN! This is gonna be a real wild episode of The Surfphony of Derstruction 2000 so you better be ready to go trippin'!

Keep up with The Surfphony of Derstruction 2000 on Facebook and Soundcloud to be the first to know when the next episode drops!

THE SURFPHONY OF DERSTRUCTION... OR IS IT???

HOLY MOLEY!

The Surfphony of Derstruction has been laying dormant lately like a hella chill volcano... and now I come back and see there's been hella views! Geeze! I feel bad because people are probably picking at the scraps I left behind. WELL, NO MORE! You may notice there has been a few changes to the blog... Could the volcano that is the Surfphony of Derstruction no longer satisfied with chillin' out? PERHAPS. Keep tuned in as I hear the full moon always brings a high tide with it...

IN THE MEANTIME if you're cruising by this blog and wondering where the heck all the music is, well shucks, I'm glad ya stopped by! And here is my gift to you for coming around!

Here's some VINTAGE Surfphony of Derstruction in glorious MONO! (That means a smaller file size, ya chump!)

This is one of my shows from my days on CJAM 99.1 FM at The University of Windsor, broadcasting to Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan. This particular episode is SURF IN SPACE and was one of my most favorite episodes of The Surfphony because IN SPACE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SURF!

Plenty of great space-themed Surf tracks all brought together with a really neat little narrative I... I mean CAPTAIN BRIGANTE put together on the fly!
